Calvary Wolfeboro was planted out of Calvary Albuquerque in July of 2013. The church started gathering on Saturday evenings in the home of a local family here in Wolfeboro. As our numbers increased, we spent a short season at the Brookwoods Conference Center in Alton, NH before God opened the doors for us to move our gathering to our current location at 43 Mill Street in June of 2014. Our location in downtown Wolfeboro, right off the water of Back Bay, has provided numerous opportunities to be the light of Christ in our town.
Throughout the life of the church God has revealed Himself through His drawing of people to the body, the transformation in individual lives, and His amazing provision. While we have rarely had abundance, financially, God has continuously shown Himself faithful to provide what is needed. Beyond our basic needs, God has provided in a variety of ways for significant outreach to our community through large events such as Freedom Reigns(concert and food giveaway), Kids Games, and the Calvary Closet, just to name a few of the things that provide a testimony of God’s faithfulness and through which we see that God has made His presence and involvement in Calvary Wolfeboro clear.
While we have seen God do amazing things in and through us as a church body, we also know that we, as a gathering of flawed and imperfect people, depend on His grace each and every day. We have learned and continue to learn that grace is not just a past need but a present necessity. We are learning to cling to the grace of Jesus Christ as we grow in our love for Him and our brothers and sisters. We know that we must remain vigilant lest we become guilty of what Jesus gently rebuked the church in Ephesus of: “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.” Revelation 2:4. As we have grown and matured, we have learned that true love —the kind that Jesus demonstrated and commanded his disciples to exercise with one another — is not easy. But we also know that it is what God has called us to, and it is good.
